Early on in Trump’s presidency, he alienated Mexico by demanding they pay for his ridiculous border wall. The Mexican President was so appalled that he canceled his scheduled meeting with Trump. The sad part is Trump continues to claim that Mexico will pay for his wall.
Over the past couple of weeks, natural disasters have become the norm. First, Hurricane Harvey, then Hurricane Irma, and now a massive earthquake just shook Mexico.
The current death toll following the quake is nearly sixty, and hundreds of others were injured. The Trump administration has yet to respond to the earthquake or offer aid to Mexico.
Following Harvey, Mexico made a generous offer to help those affected in Texas. A spokesperson for the National Security Council stated after the earthquake, “We will continue to monitor the situation and take all appropriate steps” without releasing a clear plan.
Trump hasn’t mentioned the earthquake on Twitter:
2:20pm ET: Still no tweet/statement fr/Trump Administration expressing solidarity w/Mexico re: earthquake. Mayor of Los Angeles already did https://t.co/hV9kxIso0Q

The last tweet Trump directed toward Mexico was an attack:
“With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL. Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott accepted Mexico’s offer to aid Harvey victims, no thanks to Trump — he still hasn’t thanked them.
